    3. Marla, I have been looking through your documents and comparing it to what I have. I had a couple of questions on the John Martin. I noticed in the Personal Property Tax Lists, starting in 1782, two John Martins. John Martin Sr. you thought was born about 1718 and died about 1812. You indicated that he had a son John Martin born about 1776, married to Nancy Spangler, whose will I think is the one in 1818. I noticed that about 1800 there were three John's on the Personal Property Tax Rolls. I found a marriage of Reynolds, Archibald and Betsey Ann Martin, Dau. John, Aug 27, 1808 Sur. John Martin Jr. Franklin County Marriages, Wingfield's Works, pg. 192 Could there have been three generations of John's? JoAnn

    3. Thanks, JoAnn, for the additional info. We really need more information in sorting out the John Martins :>( Hugh Martin, b. abt. 1747, being the son of John Martin Sr., would name a son John, I would think. 3. Marla, I found another document that I copied off the internet as couple of years ago. Dumb me, I am missing the site, but it definitely is the same family. James Martin Abt 1717-1821 Residence 1 Jan 1777 Henry County, Virginia Death 1821, Franklin Co. Virginia Family 1 Margaret 1. John Martin 2. William Martin 3. James Martin 4. Robert Martin 5. Hugh Martin 6. Eleander Martin 7. Jane Martin 8. Agnes Martin 9. "Peggy" Margaret Martin 10. "Ann" Elizabeth Ann Martin 11. Rebecca Martin Family 2 Mary MCGHEE Marriage 22 Aug 1805 Franklin Co. Virginia Eleander Martin died about 1814 in Pittsylvania County, the following were listed as heirs, Morris Martin, John Martin, Nancy Crews, Jeremiah Martin, Benjamin Martin, Joseph Martin, (dec) and Catherine Rice (dec). ( Pittsylvania, Virginia Court Order Book 16, 1813-1816) There are two many Johns and James it gets confusing.
