Re: Genealogy Reports 1) First I recommend you confirm your current program will not generate the reports you desire. When I used to use Tree Maker 8 & 11, I would print two reports (not trees) that I kept in notebooks: Outline Descendant report summarizes names and years of birth & death. Good reference for family relationships. Genealogy report prints all data and notes that have been input for each individual, including sources. A much lengthier report, but all the details. 2) As I recall, the reports also gave you the option of indicating how many generations to print. Increase this number to be sure you get everything. The ability to print all generations is also dependent on the amount of memory in your computer, and how much is allocated for use by the program. See the FAQ section on Familytreemaker.com site for details on increasing (not sure if this is valid for older versions). 3) Consider upgrading to a more current version of Tree Maker (I think Ver. 16 is the most current one, and many improvements have been added since your Ver. 5, including new tree and report options). On EBay you can buy Deluxe edition under $20, or for under $30 can get Collector edition, which includes a free 1 year online search subscription to Ancestry.com. 4) If upgrading, be aware that anybody you want to share FTW files with must also have the current Tree Maker version. Without it, you can only share GEDCOM files, which lose all extraneous the notes and source details. 5) Regarding your desire to manipulate reports: With the desired report displayed on your screen, select File/Export Genealogy Report/To Plain Text. The resulting saved file can then be loaded into any word processor and edited as you desire (change text font, size, color, add photos, etc.) Just remember that any changes you make must be redone after you input new data into Tree Maker. -------------- Original message -------------- From: vafrankl-request@rootsweb.com > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. useful family trees?
