Roy, 1st paragraph: Reconsider the illegible word is &... i. e. "Governor & Chief Magistrate". Balance of paragraph is near perfect, except consider throwing out (fundy?) and replace it with "assigns"... probably written with old style double ss. it should read, ..."we bind ourselves our heirs & assigns by these presents..." It's a standard phrase seen a zillion times. Sometimes it's seen as our Heirs our Exors and assigns.. Next paragraph is nearly perfect if you just remove the x's. Ann Lowry Worrell read the bond in 1934 and thought it said Robert Bond and Sally Ann Starkey; Samuel Ozburn, surety. Oct. 18, 1796. It's in her book. Maybe more later. Bill
