I am researching a Samuel GILBERT who was granted 441 acres of land in 1767 in Bedford and Halifax Co., VA on the Black Water River and Maggoty. He sold 220 acres in 1770 to John Lansdam described as being on the Black Water River in Bedford Co. I am looking to confirm that the location of the junction of these water bodies is in what is now Franklin Co., VA., just northeast of Rocky Mount. Can anyone confirm the location?? I have been looking in Bedford Co and Campbell Co deed records for the sale of the other 220 acres without sucess. Larry Hallstrom
