"Paducah Sun Newspaper" Saturday, July 02, 2005 Rev. George Martin "Buck" Hodge, 85, of Paducah, KY died at 12:13 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2005, at Lourdes hospital. A native of Graves County, Mr. Hodge was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having fought in the Battle of the Bulge and receiving wounds in the Black Forest. He was the operator for over 50 years of the Hodge Sawmill. Rev. Hodge was also a retired Southern Baptist Minister, having pastored over 50 years at the following churches: Hodges Chapel, Jolly Spring, Trace Creek, Pleasant Grove, Flewellyn Holts Corner, Red River, Weaver Creek, Pisgah, Wice and 14 years at Temple Baptist Church in Paducah, which was his last pastorate and where he was a member. Rev. Hodge was ordained by the Oak Grove Baptist Church here in McCracken County. He attended Clear Creek Bible College and Mid-Continent University. Surviving are his wife, Emma Youngblood Hodge; three sons and their wives, Michael D. and Diana Hodge of Murray, Martin Keith and Bonnie Hodge of Paducah and John E. and Lynn Hodge of Morristown, Tenn.; a daughter and her husband, Ailene and Ron Hodge Greene of Murray; a brother, John Pete Hodges of Paducah; a stepson; five stepdaughters; 14 grandchildren, Monica Greene Schyck, Kim Greene Stone, Ron "Chip" Greene, Amiee Hodge Cope, Jill Hodge Moore, Jana C. Hodge, David Martin Greene, Wendy Lynn Hodge, Rebecca "Becky" Greene English, John Michael Hodge, Martin George Hodge, Brian Keith Hodge, Jessica Hodge Powell and Sarah Elizabeth Hodge; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rozena Leidecker Hodge; two brothers; and four sisters. His parents were Murry T. and Verbina Hughes Hodges. His grandparents were George Martin and Sarah E. Hamm Hodges and Noel Hughes and Mariah J. Davis Hughes. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2005, at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Monte Hodges, the Rev. Jerry Walker and the Rev. Brian Hodge officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Kenton Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2005, at the funeral home.
