Hi, All, In a previous message, my cousin, Carolyn Hale Bruce, mentioned (below) that John HALE's death date - 1833 - came from her cousin (that would be me) and she didn't know where the information came from...so here 'tis: In: Cemeteries of Franklin County, Va., compiled by the Franklin County Heritage Society, 1998, p. 145, there are four entries for John HALE: According to that reference, these two are buried at Ann Hale Cemetery, located on 748, Turner's Creek Road, near Ferrum, 1 mile north of 752 and 748, behind Elkton Mountcastle's house: (I think this may also be called Turner's Creek Cemetery.) HALE, John, d. 07-06-1878 HALE, John H, d. 1833 The following burial is at: Roy Lee Hale Cemetery, 500 feet off 857, intersection of 788 & 857: HALE, John R., b. 11-14-1885, d. 04-02-1942, Husband of Lillie H. The following burial is at: Hale/Saunders Cemetery, Taliaferro Street, Rocky Mount: HALE, John S., Sr., b. 1812, d. 08-25-1872, 60 years Since the John HALE we are discussing was born ca. 1764 or 1765, it seems likely that he is the one whose grave marker gives 1833 as the date of death. Anybody have anything further on this? William Hale 1790-1880 is buried in the same cemetery as John Hale b. ca. 1764, d. 1833.
