Does anyone have any information on a Mountain View Church that used to be on Foothills Road, near Callaway? You can email me directly at beverlym@swva.net Thanks, Beverly
Rootsweb is the standard Franklin County site and should be considered the mainstay of county level information. Our website, "Franklin County Virginia's Genealogy", http://www.franklincountyvagenealogy.com/ is an informal site where one can find what is available from Beverly Merrit along with a casual mix of donated info. My goal will be to post my personal collection of deeds and assorted records; more of a family level. Anyone who has something that they feel does not quite fit into the county level is welcome to send it along to me and I'll update the site about once a month. Thank you so much Linda! I had considered it and emailed Bev but decided that I have too much on my plate. I'm so happy and relieved that you are taking over for her. Hated the thought of no Franklin County site. Barbara
Linda Jo: I am so exited that you will be helping Bev with the Franklin County website. It is soooo very important and it sounds like you really have a lot of knowledge, like Bev, which I do not have. Thank heavens for you. I'm not related, but thought this might give clues for further searching. Bill H One Samuel Goode signed his Bedford Co. Will April 13, 1775. Maybe this will spark a new interest in at least preserving the information in the old cemeteries before they are all destroyed by developers. Many rural areas are being quietly bought up these developers and cleared of everything, trees, old houses and cemeteries. I've been working on another cemetery book but I can't begin to visit all of the areas of the county that haven't been covered. If anyone has any information to include I will be more than happy to give you credit for the information gathered.
