Hello Carolyn, I am working on my Bedford County Thomas line. I am following a lead on a John Thomas that came to Bedford County, VA between 1762 and 1766 from Amelia Co., VA. It appears that he was married to Elizabeth Skarrett and they had a son named Charles Thomas both of whom are mentioned in the Will of John Skarrett in 1773. My 3rd Great grandfather, Nixon Thomas, married Mary Jane Patterson and one of his brothers married one of her sisters (they were daughters of William C. Patterson). Also the John Maynard Thomas line you mentioned below are 1st cousins to my family. Anyway, could you send me whatever you know about your Charles Thomas m. Judy Patterson and Mary "Polly" Thomas? Thanks, Bobby Thomas, Wake Forest, NC -----Original Message----- >From: Carolyn Bruce <cdhbruce@cox.net> >Sent: Oct 11, 2007 6:25 PM >To: vafrankl@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [VAFRANKL] Looking for males named BRUCE, HALE, SMITH, RAKES, PETERS... > >Interesting, Priscilla, I have cousins with the surnames EDWARDS, POWELL, >and THOMAS, the last being one of my ancestral names as well. Bud Jones----Yes, I would like the info you have. I have also sent an email to your email addy. Thanks, Pam Agnes B. St John---Thanks for your response. Was there anything else in the book? Pam To both of you, I am not entirely sure that this is my Theodric. There is another Theodric Gibson, also from Franklin Co. that I found in Montgomery Co. He is about 10 years younger than my Theodric. I am thinking they may be cousins, or mine could be an uncle? Pam __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Hello Jan, Yes, we have corresponded previously. I have an e-mail from you saved in my Thomas genealogy file. My biggest problem right now is Thomas Tate Thomas' birth town, birth parents and siblings. I can provide information about the Thomas line, especially Eugene G. to the present. Jan Thomas" I checked my FTM data and I do not have a Thomas Tate Thomas listed. Have you been able to make any headway with research on this line? I correspond with a couple of Thomas researchers who are working on the William Thomas line. His line is connected to a 1783 (or 84) land grant of about 300 acres on Maggotty Creek in the southern part of Bedford County (likely present day Franklin Co., VA). Let me see if they have anything on your Thomas Tate Thomas. Hello Mary Ann I have updated the map to what I believe to be the Chestnut Creek area. It is northeast of Snydorsville and contains several cemeteries. The Chestnut Creek Cemetery is across the road from the Chestnut Creek Church. Click on the same url: http://www.paulpuente.com/gen_maps/franklin_county_cemeteries.htm and the map should center directly on these new cemeteries I just entered. Hi Paula and group What a surprise to see this link. This map is on my personal website and was an experiment. I am using online software from Mapbuilder.net to create this Google "mashup". I only put a few cemeteries to test the online system. If people in the group are interested I can add more. I use various sources to come up with the location of "historical" cemeteries, schools, communities, post offices, etc. Once I have the coordinates, I use the software to place them on the Google map. I am also the webmaster for the American Local History Network (ALHN) for Meigs County, Tennessee. On this website, I have many more "mashups" for Meigs County cemeteries, communities, post offices, etc. If you are interested in having a look, the link is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnmeigs/ The site is far from complete, but if you want to see how much information can be included in such a system, click on Cemeteries and navigate to Meigs County cemeteries and then click on Moore Family cemetery. I have all of the known graves for that cemetery. This map doesn't have many of the cemeteries in Franklin County, but I thought I'd pass this on in case someone could use the information. If you move the map around, you can see more than Franklin County.
