Kecoughtan/ Kikotan, is the ancient name for the area later known as Elizabeth City County, now the city of Hampton. The fighting JDH referred to was possibly a part of the "Seven Days" Battles. To the Wright, Bedford, and Franklin Lists, Just a note to let everyone know that Heritage Books (Heritagebooks.com) has published my latest production Wright Family Personal Property Tax Lists, Bedford County, Virginia 1782-1850. Each Wright in those records is listed with the property on which he or she was taxed. These tax lists amount to an annual head of household census for each year. As in the prior materials, there is a column identifying the Wright listed and their known Wright ancestors. For those new to the list, prior publications, all from Heritage Books, include the following: Wright Family Birth Records, Bedford County, Virginia, Wright Family Marriage Records, Bedford County, Virginia, Wright Family Census Records 1810-1900, Bedford County, Virginia, Wright Family Land Records, Bedford County, Virginia, and Wright Family Death, Cemetery, And Probate Records, Bedford County, Virginia. I am researching the OVERFELT family of Franklin Co, VA. Specifically, Matthias and Mary Polly (Vineyard) Overfelt. This family is listed on the census reports for Franklin Co. from 1810-1830. If anyone has a list of cemeteries in Franklin Co., I would like to know where Matthias and Mary are buried. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you, Betty Overfelt
Many thanks to Bob, Bill, Sam and Wayne whose replies were so helpful. I was finally able to find it on the De Lorme map where the "Bull Run" name now appears in two of the southern fingers of Smith Mountain Lake. The lat-long position given in the _Omni Gazeteer_, Volume 3: "Bull Run, stream, Franklin Co., USGS "Moneta SW", 370159N-0793731W". Marilyn Symonds
