Hello, I have been away on vacation now am wading through lots of e-mails. This note mentioned looking for Wrights. Several years ago in Salt Lake city I found a great typescript for the Boone family. ( Johan Diehl Bohne progenitor of Jacob and John Boone of Boone's Mill Franklin Co, VA. It is not indexed but well documented. I do not have any Wright's in my husband's direct line. On p 213, it has Elizabeth Boone d/o John & Catherine (Boone) Jamison marrying Goodman A Wright son of James & Margaret (Young) Wright 27 Oct 1836. moved to Indiana and then she died in Kansas. Does this Jame fit into any of your Wright info?........... jane in Northern CA Searching for Jamison, Dowdy, Showalter, Sigmon, Boone, Abshire, Parker, and intensely for Hopkins, Atkinson, Hill and Jones
My Brick Wall (one of them anyway) My 4th Greatgrandfather was William B. Curtin of Franklin Co., Virginia b. late 1700's d.after January 24, 1828 before 1830. My 4th greatgrandmother was Elizabeth Ferguson Hambrick. She was married to Thomas Hambrick for abt 1 year before he was killed. She never remarried and after Thomas' death had 3 children. William B. Curtin was the father of these children, as evidenced by his will. The only other reference I have found to a Curtin in Franklin Co., Virginia is in the Franklin County Virginia Bicentennial History by John S. and Emily J. Salmon in which a Thomas Richardson was given 15 lashes by the courts order for stealing 2 pair of shoes from William Curtin valued at 4 dollars. This court date was April 14, 1807. If anyone has information on this man that could send me searching in the right direction I would appreciate it. I have found no other Curtins.

I am hoping someone can help me locate info on the mother of my gggrandmother Roxie Danna Adams Carter b 3/31/1898 in possibly Ferrum. Her father was Franklin Carter s/o John Quincy Carter and Elizabeth Hale and her mother was Sarah Lewis Adams. Frank and Sarah were never married. It is said that she came from a poor family and was pushed around from place to place, and worked as a seamtress for a wealthy family in Franklin Co. She had 5 children all with different fathers; Roxie Adams, Cody Adams and an Odie Adams are the only 3 names I have. When Sarah was in her late 40's to 50 she married a man by the name of Frank? Thomas who was from a very well off family and they disowned him because of this marriage. Sarah died Sarah Lewis Thomas about 1955 in Ferrum and is supposed to be buried in Ferrum. In an old family tree I located it had Sarah's parents as Louis or Lewis Young and Sally Rakes, but I thinking this could of been grandparents. If anyone recognizes any of these families I would really appreciate any help you can give. Thank you, Susan

Dear List, Can anyone tell me who the parents of Patsy Greer - (b. @1813-d. 11/17/1853) married Benjamin Harris - were? I have father as Sam Greer. Mother as Eliza ?? Thanks in advance for your help. Irene
Tom, This reply to your query is also being sent to the Wright and Franklin County lists for their information. Ruby Wallace at rgw3593@aol.com is also interested in this family. She stated that Jesse Wright's middle initial was R. Jesse Wright's marriage bond for his marriage to Elizabeth Crawford, daughter of Rachael Crawford, was dated on March 21, 1799, at Franklin County, Virginia, with George Wright as surety. The Personal Property Tax Lists for Franklin County list Jesse Wright on April 23, 1800, and April 11, 1801, and not thereafter. The parents of Jesse R. Wright have not yet been identified. The name George Wright, who was surety on the marriage bond, is associated with the family of 1809 (year of death) William Wright of Franklin County, Virginia, (place of death), but there is as yet no Jesse Wright among 1809 William's descendants. 1809 William Wright had four sons, three of whom were named in his will. They were 1823 James Wright of Franklin County, 1830 William Wright of Franklin County, and 1843 George Wright of Franklin County. The only Wrights listed in the 1786 Franklin County Personal Property Tax List were 1809 William, his three known sons, and 1845 John. It is believed that 1845 John Wright of Franklin County was possibly the fourth unnamed son, but the evidence for this remains circumstantial at this point. 1845 John Wright of Franklin County was born about 1746 or 1748 at Fauquier County, Virginia, and was a Revolutionary War veteran. Seven children of 1845 John Wright of Franklin County have been identified. One of the two identified sons was 1874 Ezekiel Wright of Franklin County, Virginia, who was born in about 1786 at Virginia. The second son was Joseph Wright who was born in about 1800 at Virginia. One of 1845 John Wright's daughters was Tabitha Wright, born on May 15, 1771, who married Thomas Huston on June 8, 1799, at Franklin County, Virginia, and died on August 3, 1869, at Union County, Indiana. The birth in 1771 of Tabitha when the two known sons were born 15 to 29 years later suggests that there may have been earlier born sons. And the name Thomas Houston Wright among Jesse R. Wright's descendants suggests that Jesse R. Wright may have been one of those earlier born sons of 1845 John Wright of Franklin County, Virginia. However, there are other Wrights in early Franklin County who have not been identified, including (1) Wingfield Wright, whose daughter Polly married Edward Lewis in 1792, (2) Rachael Wright who married Richard Richeson in 1797, (3) Josiah Wright who married Peggy Ferguson in 1797, (4) William Wright who married Ellender Johnson in 1803, and (5) John Wright who married Elizabeth Kelley or Muckelwain in 1805, among others. So more research is required to sort out the identity of Jesse R. Wright's parents, but I hope you find the above of help. I would much appreciate hearing from any other researcher who may have information that could help sort out these early Franklin County Wrights. Robert N.
