    1. [VAFRANKL] PLEASE HELP
    2. I am new to this list and needs some real help. Until yesterday I was wondering if my great grandmother was an alien from Mars or some unknown galaxy. Seriously I knew she was but from documentation I have received she was born in four different states and in three decades. New found information had my great grandmother ELLEN F. FORD being born May 1856 in Virginia. Now that I know she didn't just pop into this world or come on a flying saucer I am looking for information on her family, parents, and siblings. If you have Ford info please check for her. Also I need a CENSUS look up for 1860 and 1870. She married in April 1872 in Claiborne County, Tennessee. Any help is greatly appreciated. If you look for her in census records you have access to please let me know where you looked so I will know at least where she is not at in Virginia. Thanks you for you help. Patricia

    3. Hello; Canterberry families show up in Fairfax County records as early as the 1740s. Perhaps earlier. These families moved through many counties or wound up in counties as the boundaries changed. Does anyone have any info on these families 1740 (or before) and following through to the early 1800s? Thank you for your time and attention.

    3. In 1995 I visited Franklin Co. trying to find info on my great-great grandfather Thomas Jefferson Stone and his family. At the Rocky Mount Christian Church I found a dedication plaque inscribed as follows: "THOMAS JEFFERSON STONE April 13, 1830 - April 13, 1903 Ordained as an elder and evangelist in the Christian Church March 15, 1866. He labored earnestly for thirty-seven years. He planted and watered and God gave him the increase." I also located his grave, which was probably on his former farm, but was now a cow pasture. The headstone had been knocked down and was partially embedded in cow dung, but it was in remarkably good condition. Thomas had two daughters who married in Franklin Co. Helen Virginia Stone (b. 13 Feb 1862) married James Anderson on 21 Oct 1894 and Flora May Stone (b. 24 Jun 1870) married J.M. Talbart Hancock. I am looking for descendents of either family or someone who knows anything about them. Please E-mail me at: LAMREIN@accex.net Linda

    3. I am not exactly clear on whether Martha Vinson is the mother of William Lindsey's children and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. According to the records I have, Wm. (1760-1827, Franklin County) m. Martha Vinson, dau. of Chas. Vinson, in 1807. But the children listed were b. in the 1790s! I hypothesise that pre-marital cohabitation was probably not kosher. 3. Bill, thanks for the response. There may be some Glass connection here that I am not aware of. My Nancy was born around 1825 and marrier Samuel E. Lee in Franklin County in 1849. Perhaps I need to dig deeper in Franklin County. Regards, Harold Wm Hunt wrote: > > In addition to what Marla wrote, I offer Bedford Co. 3. Bill, This is the first time that I've seen anything about this deed! This is a good clue! Nancy Class of whom I spoke, and who married John Bird,-- her father was supposedly Johannas Class, and her mother Elizabeth Kitterman. Thanks for sharing! --Marla Wm Hunt wrote: > In addition to what Marla wrote, I offer Bedford Co. 3. I'm looking for any information on Nancy Glass, my gg grandmother. She was from Pittsylvania County but lived with her sister and her sister's husband, Jacob Machenbinder, in Franklin County around 1850. I have just returned from an allied family reunion where I was told family lore says Nancy was a full blooded Cherokee. I would like to prove/disprove it if I can. Any help or information appreciated. Thanks.
