    2. I've heard from Franklin Co. that Henry Hopkins and Bev Merritt are nearing completion on an edition of the 1880 Franklin Co. VA census. Index is done and final proofing of manuscript is underway....a total of 570 pages (88 page index). Bev says there are a lot of names that are virtual duplicates, as I have been appreciating for a time now, and that it might alter some people's research perspectives, and even their data. She's wondering how much interest there might be in copies to determine a print run. I think she monitors this list (?) so I'll put my hat in the ring and say "I want one", whatever the cost. For me it will be a priceless resource. Her e-dress: beverlym@swva.net Y'all come, Peter Ramsey Latrobe, PA

Now I am able to pin down exactly where my MIDKIFF family lived in Franklin co. According to 'Deed Books' of Franklin co. there was a piece of property (size unkn) on 'Buttermilk' which belonged to my branch of the MIDKIFF's and was deeded to "John N. Bowling" in 1905-07. Family history states "George Tyler Midkiff" was b. abt. 1849 in the "Endicott" area. Many, many thanks!!! sincerely eileen

    1. [VAFRANKL] VIRUS WARNINGS
    2. If you are members of several genealogy lists in the State of Virginia, you will get several copies of this email. Exercise your right and use the delete key on the duplicates. I realize that everyone is fearful of any virus to their computer system and the possibility of losing their files or their entire database; however, there are several good websites that you can check before you forward any "Virus Alerts". I would like to recommend that EVERYONE add at least one of these sites to their favorites list so that you can check the validity of such a warning before you forward the notice. It doesn't take but a few minutes to check to see if the warning is real or a hoax, but those few minutes will educate you and hopefully enable you to inform those persons who are sending the warnings to you that they are invalid. < <A HREF="http://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/CIACHoaxes.html#internetcharge"><CIAC Internet Hoaxes</A> http://www.datafellows.com/news/hoax.htm http://www.commandcom.com/virus/virus_hoaxes.html Thank you for your time.
