    1. [VAFRANKL] ROLL CALL - PAYNE, SANDERS, SAUNDERS, STEELE, FOWLER
    2. I am looking for parents/siblings of Silas PAYNE, b. abt. 1820, Va. and married to Mary SAUNDERS/SANDERS, b. abt. 1826 and married on 24 Jan 1847.   Mary's mother was Nancy SAUNDERS/SANDERS. Silas and Mary PAYNE had two children: George R. PAYNE b. abt. 1848 and William A. PAYNE, b. abt 1849.   William A. PAYNE married Mary Margaret STEELE, b. about 1847 and married on 6 Feb 1868. Mary's parents were John and Elizabeth (Fowler) STEELE of Roanoke Co. Mary and William PAYNE had seven children:  Alonzo, Erastus, Lucian, Loma, Denton, Grover Cleveland and Alma.  All resided in the Roanoke/Franklin Co. area (possibly Cave Springs District and Boones Mill). Silas served as surety for at least five PAYNE marriages to include:  Peggy, Nancy, Richard PAYNE (all children of Isham PAYNE)  Also, the marriage of Chenesse PAYNE (father Joseph) and Jubal PAYNE.  Some of these persons must be related to Silas, however, I cannot establish the connection. If you have any information and/or suggestions to share, please do.  Thanks! Virginia Payne

    3. I went to school with a Leon Cannaday of Boonesmill Virginia area. Perhaps you can check any links to be found in that area. He is passed away now, he died in a drowning accident during a flood. There is a store in Boonesmill area known as Cannaday's. Leon's father owned this establisment. I believe it is still there. 3. <<Looking for Dearien, Deering, Deerin, Dearin and any other variant spellings prior to 1870 in Franklin. >> Lisa and listers, Do you have any Warren connections to your early 1800's Deering family? My ancestors Drinkard Steagall and Jane Warren married August 4, 1828, Franklin Co., Virginia. Jane Warren was about 28 years old at this time and the surety bondsman was John Dearen. Wondering about a Deering connection here and if so how. I have no proof of any previous marriages for Jane Warren, but the thought did cross my mind that maybe she was possibly a Deering by birth and a Warren widow. Jane Warren has been a blockwall for a long time and I'm just looking for a needle in a haystack here with no proof of any kind. Thanks, Dan Cook Researching ancestors Lavinder, Parcell, Steagall, Goode, McMillian, Mullins, Hodges, Warren and Love in Franklin Co. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
