I am a descendant from Daniel 3rd/Daniel 2nd. Information is open past this point (1780's). I have a fair amount of secondary information that points to Anthony as the father of Daniel 2nd. Many family stories give Daniel 2nd father as Daniel (i.e. the names) how ever nothing can be confirmed. The one information that is the strongest is Jeremiah Barnhart who was one of Daniel 3rd children wrote he is the only member still living in the county where his father and grandfather were born in. I discount this because he was hardly the only Barnhart living in Franklin Co. (he may not have had brothers but several cousins) and if his grandfather was born there, a Barnhart would have had to be living there (in what became Franklin Co.) CA 1730/1740. I think there would be some records to support this. Dear Fellow researchers and friends, All members should have their November Newsletter by now. I know you noticed just how nice it was. I have been very ill, so I did not do the newsletter so Beverly Merritt had to step in and do the newsletter herself. I must say she did such a good job. I enjoyed her format, Mr. Hopkins story, Dan Cook's story, the many queries and other stories. I enjoy seeing so much input from members. We are ending another year. So we are in a membership drive. Membership is from Jan. 2002-Dec. 2002. If you have not mailed in your re-newal please do so as soon as possible so you will be in the annual membership directory. The directory has all members, address, phone, email, fax (if available) and surnames or their intrest in history/genealogy. This booklet is a great way to meet new folks working in the same area you are working in. My computer has been down. I have moved. My new address is: 60 Steph's Lane, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151 ktrygal1@aol.com I have been in the hospital, so Bevelry has had to do double work. I am slowly coming back. I am researching Fairfaxs and Crews. The Fairfaxs originated from Montgomery County but went to WV, Pulaski and Ohio. The Crews (Cruze, Cruz, Cruse), I don't know where they originated from but I found them in Pulaski in the 1880's. Hopefully someone can help me with my research. Thanks, Angela
Can anyone tell me more about a petition pertaining to Military Service and the Brethren. The year was 1799 and the signers were: John Becklehimer, Jr., John Boon (probably Barbara Moyer's step-father), Joseph Flora, (my 3rd gr. grandfather), Henry Ikenberry, Peter Ikenberry, Jacob Kingery, Jacob Kinsey, Jacob Miller, Isaac Nave (Nafe), Jacob Nave, Jacob Nave, Jr., Michael Peters and Stephen Peters. The source is: Franklin Co.VA 1786-1986--A Bicentennial History ....John S. Salmon and Emily J. Salmon..Franklin County Bicentennial Commission, Rocky Mount, Virginia - 1993 pp. 194-195. I would like to know the content of the petition and if Isaac Nave (Nafe) was indeed a signer.
