Tammy Tolbert Hudson, I saw an e-mail addressed to you. I have Tolbert (Talbert?) and Hudson ancestors. Do you have your genealogy listed somewhere on the net? Maybe we are related?! Judi in OH
Tammy, you and everyone on the list has been so helpful. I think I'll have too many for a lookup, because I want them all...thanks for your offer, anyway. I'll look for the Marriage Bonds of Virginia Book--and see if I can get it. Thanks again, Marla > May I suggest you purchase the book "Marriage Bonds of Franklin County > Virginia" > The dates are 1786-1858 by Marshall Wingfield. > I have this book but you would have to read each and every entry to see who > the marriage was performed by, some don't have a minister listed. are you > looking for someone in particular? Hello, fellow researchers, Monday,April 1st(April Fool's Day) should be a happy one for genealogists! I will paraphrase(and sometimes even plagiarize)from a column in today's Houston,Texas(USA)Chronicle which was written by genealogist Mic Barnette. barnette@neosoft.com NARA (National Archives Records Administration) will,on Monday,April 1st, open to researchers the 1930 CENSUS ! It was taken just after the 1929 Wall Street crash and has been closed to researchers for 72 years. Questions asked on the census were: > Name - > Age - > Address - > Immigration,Education,& Military info. - > Rent or own home or farm - > Occupation of each person - > Did they work - > Place of birth (each person) - > Place of birth of their father & mother - > How many radios in house - The total cost to acquire the entire 1930 census is $147,118.The cost of a single roll of microfilm is $34. The number of rolls for some states is: > Texas -127 rolls > Louisians -45 > Arkansas -36 > Oklahoma -47 > New Mexico -9 > Maryland -40 > New York -269 > Hawaii -7 NARA (Southwest Region) in Ft.Worth,Texas will open to researchers at midnight. Other NARA facilities will operate with similar schedules & ceremonies. For further info, contact your regional NARA office.(I've included all I know about it.)Let's hope that a library near you will have it or LDS will have it on line. Blessings,Ben STREET SESSIONS, Houston,Texas Happy April Fool's Day(but this is no joke). ===== ******************************************* Benjamin Street Sessions BenSessions@yahoo.com ******************************************* __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I have just received some new information that I would really like to prove. My Henry Woody lived in Franklin Co., and was married to Susannah Martin. I have been told that Henry's father was John Woody b- 1707 in New Kent, d aft 1740 in Goochland Co. I was told that Susannah's parents were Joseph Martin and Susannah Chiles. Any one researching either line? Will welcome any info, and am willing to share. Margaret Heinek

Can anyone tell me what county South Boston, VA is in. Thanks, Tammy Tolbert Hudson
Hi James! That is very kind of you to offer the 'Will' & I would be more than happy to receive it! Basically, I only started on the FERGUSON ancestry just before Christmas. I knew all about my HATCHER ancestry for years, but I did not know anything about his wife, Miriam WILLIS' ancestry, at all. Never learned who her WILLIS father was, but learned that her mother was Sally/Sarah FERGUSON [because that marriage was not recorded, a d/o George FERGUSON & Polly/Mary CRUMP. A Sally WILLIS m. Sally FERGUSON's brother, John FERGUSON, & so many have those two ladies confused within their genealogy. I have just been trying to find the rest of the families because they would connect. There was several Skelton RICHARDSON in other States in the early days, but I, as I previously stated, would have no idea if I had the correct one or not unless I located him in 1850. Then I get the message of Naomi marrying someone else by 1825, after Skelton died or disappeared, & I have no idea if they had any children. Do you know? Have a Very Good Day & Thanks! Hi Myrna! I am not going to be able to be of much help to you because what I have is just sorty of a inner & outer! I am FERGUSON descendant. John FERGUSON, said to have been b. ca 1753, m. Mary "HILL" on 21 JAN 1790 in Franklin Co, VA. They had several children born in Franklin Co, VA. Their second child was Naomi FERGUSON, b. 24 SEP 1790 in Franklin Co, VA, married Skelton RICHARDSON. They received their Marriage Bond on 14 JUN 1813, but beings it is a Bond recording rather than a Marriage recording, I do not know if they married exactly on that very same day or not, but the Bond is worded thusly - Franklin County, VA, Marriage Bond, 1813 - Know all men by these Presents that we Skelton Richeson & John Phybon are held and firmly bound unto James Barbour Esquire Governor of Virginia in the Sum of one hundred and fifty Dollars to the Payment of which well & truly to be made to the said Governor and his Successor for the use of the Common Wealth we bind ourselves and each of us, our and each of our heirs executors & admins: jointly and Severally, firmly by these Presents. Sealed with our Seals & dated this 14th day of june 1813 The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be had and Solemnized between the above bound Skelton Richeson and Naomi Ferguson Now if there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the said Marriage then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force & virtue Signed: Skelton Richerson (Seal) John Plybon Witness Josiah N. (or M.) Dickenson. I tried to locate them in the 1820, 1830, 1840 & 1850 census with no luck, then someone told me that Naomi m. (2) Wm. L. POSTON of which I have no marriage bond date, but said to have been before 1825. So I guess that was the end of Skelton - so after their marriage, some thing must have happened to him. But it was said that he was a s/o Johnathan RICHARDSON & Elizabeth "TAYLOR". [If this is even true or not, I do not know, but I would think that they were of Franklin Co, but don't know for sure.] Naomi is said to have d. 5 MAR 1869 in Barry Co, MO. I tried Skelton with varied spellings of the surname to no avail within the census. I have no idea if they had any children or not, much less the real truth about when he died & where he died. I have not searched the census for this Wm. L. POSTON as yet. I do hope that this is helpful to you in some way! Have a Very Good Day!
