    3. Mona, Frances English's mother was Nancy according to the Franklin County Marriage Bonds. I'm not sure about her father's name... I also noticed that a James Robertson was the surety for the marriage of Charles H. English to Lucy English in 1833, as well as Coalman (Coleman?) English and Martha Robertson in 1843. It's possible that Coalman and Charles or Lucy, are Frances'siblings. Good luck with your search! Ken DeLong

    1. Re: [VAFRANKL] Re: Vernon Lynch
    2. Jim, Unfortunately, attachments don't come through if sent to the list. Please send to me at my personal email and I'll see if I can help fill in any blanks. I believe it was Vernon's brother, Thomas (Bubba), who ran the hardware side of Lynch Farm Equipment. Although, I can't remember who took his place when he died. Vernon's daughter, Nancy, and son-in-law, Morris Cooper ran the farm equipment side. Harrison, his son, did take over the funeral home and it was Harrison's son, Dr. Vernon Lynch, who died in an automobile accident some years ago. Harrison also had a daughter, Susan, who died of cancer. Linda

    2. Linda, Thanks for your response. I am attaching my file and you can see I have a lot of holes to fill. I live in Ohio mand not able to travel. Vernon was my uncle and I remember visiting him in 1948. Matter of fact 5 teenagers stayed in his home over night. Vernon entertained us with his gory stories about his experience is funerals. Vernon owned the Funeral home and the Implement store. He chad a cousin Tom who ran the imp store. His son Harrison helped him in the funeral home. Perhaps someone else here can fill some of my blanks. Thanks again, Jim Denlinger

    2. Harrison Lynch owned the funeral home. His son, Dr. Vernon Lynch was a local physcian, he was killed in a car wreck. He was loved by all who knew him. I am sure their are other Vernon Lynch's, people tend to repeat names a lot.

    3. Kathe, I show a William H. Booth b. 1858, Union Hall, Franklin Co., VA. This was a brother to my ggrandmother. My gggrandfather was William B. Booth, b. 1821, married Fannie Witcher. I don't see any of the other names that you've mentioned below. Penhook and Union Hall are near the lake, and fairly close to the Halesford area. 1. [VAFRANKL] Circus Train Wreck
    2. Kathe Martin
    3. I'm late reading my messages. My father remembered a circus that came through town when he was a child. I was surprised at the time that he would remember a circus after all these years. He didn't say anything about a train wreck, just a circus. But I thought then there must be something significant about it for him to remember it after all these years. He was born in Ferrum in 1916 (died 2000). I wonder if this could be the same event? Kathe Martin >The discussion about the Henry Post Office got me to thinking about a >story my father told me 30 years ago.
