The John Angle that you mention below was the oldest son of Peter Angle and brother of Henry Angle, among others. Based on information I obtained from others living in Franklin County, John and Fanny (Rudy) Angle were the parents of Elizabeth Angle, second wife of Jonas Wray and first cousin of Jonas' first wife Elsabeth Angle. Elsabeth was the daughter of Henry Angle and Sarah Robertson/Robinson. I am the great great granddaughter of Jonas Wray and Elsabeth Angle. Jonas had five daughters with Elsabeth and at least three more with Elizabeth. I have a copy of a book, copyright 1969, on the Angle family written by Eula Ferguson Angle. The book lists only Daniel and Henry J. Angle as the children of John and Fanny, so I'm not sure if Elizabeth was their daughter or not. I was told by another descendant of Jonas that he left Elizabeth Angle, probably between 1870 and 1880, to live with Elizabeth Clements with whom he had additional children. I was told, and I found no r ecord to dispute it, that Jonas never married Elizabeth Clements. Carol Otto Va. The above are a few of my surnames that lived in or near Franklin Co. They also lived in Bedford Co. Brenda Chatterton Huntington, W.V.
Hodges and Hall. The rest of you can have what's left of the County. Bob Hodges
Dan, Just to let you know, I am a descendant of the Josiah > Joel > Booker > Henry S. Hodges line. My grandmother, Lee Emma Hodges Hogan, was the youngest child of Henry S, and Mary (Wray) Hodges. Mary (Wray) Hodges was the daughter of Jonas and Elsabeth (Angle) Wray and the granddaughter of Benjamin A. Wray (b. 1757/Rev. War soldier) and his second wife, Patsy Goode. I don't have any information yet on Patsy Goode's family. Information on Josiah and Joel was originally obtained--through my subscription to this list--from Bob Hodges, the list expert on the Hodges lines in Franklin County VA. I would love to learn more about the Goode family. I am also the great granddaughter of Virginia Catherine (Stanley) Hogan who married my great grandfather John Henry Hogan in 1876 in the Montvale area of Bedford County. She was the oldest child of John N. and Martha (Fisher) Stanley of Bedford Co. I believe one of her brothers lived in Franklin County, and two others lived in Roanoke County. Carol Lee Hogan Otto Va.
