    2. Miles, Gee, gosh, shucks, maybe it's because, in spite of a lively sense of humor, I don't really have much to say that's worth much(!) But I tend to NOT blow my own horn...real modesty, not false at all...I have spoken to the Daughters of the Confederacy chapter here twice, a church circle just yesterday, and the local Piedmont Arts Association last week--not all that shy either, I guess. 3. Peter: You are prone to the same low estimate of your own many contributions to others' research efforts as are others with equal rich resources to share. :-) It is, at least, my opportunity to try to correct this self-appraisal on your part. Your stuff I've been monitoring over the years is among the most valid/valuable I have ever come across in going on 60 years of traditional research and now via the net. It all accompanied by that wonderful sense of humor displayed alongside most of it blows me away!! Miles. 3. I don't see Peter Ramsey on the list of speakers -- his wonderful sense of humor is, I'm sure, appreciated by many more than just myself. However, his perceivable modesty and/or shyness (or fear of being chased across the grass??) may well be getting in the way... ;-) I cannot attend (sigh) but when I can, I will. 1. Re: [VAFRANKL] Noah Woodson Byrd
    2. Nancy, Hello Cousin! Noah Woodson Byrd's mother, Lucy Frances Goode Byrd was the granddaughter of Jacob and Alice Mullins Goode who are my ggg-grandparents. Noah is a 2nd cousin to my grandmother Eva Moore Ramsey. In the newest volume of Franklin County VA cemeteries can be found the Byrds Mill cemetery under listing number 1196. The cemetery is located driving east from Rocky Mount on US 40, just off the Byrds Mill Road 1.7 mi. from its intersection with VA 40 East. Buried there are Levina (John seems to be absent or unmarked); Levisa Akers Byrd and husband Benjamin the miller; Mary Byrd Wigington (Ben's sister) and a few more modern graves of other families who have lived there. I believe Samuel Henry Byrd owned or lived on part of this farm at one time, but I think at some point he moved off to WV where he died in St. Albans. The Morris farm I believe is now owned by Bill Walker and adjoins my cousin's farm up river. Benjamin's brother Wm. S. and wife Malinda Cain Byrd lived on the adjoining farm down river from Benjamin's mill and they are buried there. I've discovered that some of the family changed its spelling sometimes to <Bird> and so one must be careful in looking for names. The home (not sure of it's age) burned around 1912/13 and was rebuilt. The house has been altered, modernized and expanded thru the years by various owners, but the stone foundational remains of the mill are still visible along what is locally called Racoon Creek where the mill was located downhill from the present house. Noah's children I have are: Freeman Bird, Jack Bird, Mary Bird (2), Ruth Bird, Zelma Bird, Evellen Maxine Bird b. 1920 in WV. Evellen is the only child I have any info on from her son whom I believe is on this list. I'm kin to Noah (and thus you, too) 4 times. Email me privately at <[email protected]> to share info. Happy to help, Peter Ramsey Henry, VA

    3. Dear Peter: Levina Jane Morris and John Byrd are my g-g-g-grandparents. Do you know if they have headstones? Would anyone have a photo ? I would really like to visit, but it is difficult for me (may get there one of these days). I descend thru their son John, then Samuel, then Noah. Is there a listing of other persons buried there? Tks for any help. 2. Rena
    3. The Floyd County Heritage CD "Floyd Tidbits" by Rena Worthen is finished. It is about 1100 pages of information mainly about Floyd County and it contains Births, Deaths, Cemetery, Obits and a Floyd County Census index for 1930. Some Genealogy and more. It is a .PDF file. It is searchable by name or phrase, you can Zoom in , Zoom out ..It will read to you. Barbara has a sample and said "This is COOL" I am not at liberty to put the price here, But I assure you it's worth twice that. What i'm interested in is knowing how many are interested, so know how many I'll need to bring to the Picnic. YOU MUST contact me off list for details. Barbara has been kind enough to let me do this on her lists, so let's not make her upset. Please Refer to "Floyd County Tidbits" in the Subject line to reserve the CD. Mail directly to me at [email protected] Some of you have pre ordered, and the CD will ship on June 25, 2005. I am trying to get a good count so anyone wishing to have a CD can get one the day of the VAFloyd mail list picnic at the Zion Church in Floyd. Rena Worthen [email protected] www.geocities.com/doreatr for ordering details. Genealogy without documentation is MYTHOLOGY Founder and President Craig - Botetourt Genealogy Club
