Carolyn, the Franklin Co. Circuit Court Determined Papers, April 1789-Sept. 1791, Microfilm. No. 1986573 contains the following: January 22, 1788. Ralph Smith, John Smith, William Callaway, executors of John Smith, dec'd, agst. Stephen Smith, Bird Smith, executors of Guy Smith, dec'd. I copied this one entry down from the microfilm, and there is more information on this particular lawsuit that I didn't copy down,-- but because I'm not a Smith researcher, I didn't get anything more. Good luck on your research. Marla
Oh please does anyone know anything about this e-mail I have tried to find the www.parsonstech.com but it is no longer available.I tried to e-mail the lady but her e-mail came back.Looking for Matthew Martin father of Asa Martin Matthew Martins father.HELP! Gloria Re: Asa Matthew Martin - Susan Allen, VA Posted by: Barbara Haiss Martin Date: April 14, 2000 at 21:25:24 In Reply to: Asa Matthew Martin - Susan Allen, VA by Jay Bennett of 23668 Matthew Asa "Acie" Martin and Susan Allen Martin were my husband, John's G-G-Grandparents. They had 4 children: Stanton (married Mary Nickols & 3 children); Mary Ellen (married Ellis Underwood & had several children); John's G-grandmother, "Granny Betty" Virginia Elizabeth (married John Turner & had 4 children {including John's Grandmother Cora Turner} then Virginia married Bill Jarrells and they had 7 children)and Aunt Tekie - Florida Texas who married Septinus Thompson. To see the family history online go to www.parsonstech.com and type in Matthew Asa Martin. Originally he was listed as the 96th generation going back to the first kings of Ireland and Scotland, but the site has been reduced and I believe he is listed as the 33rd generation. I have a newspaper article dated Feb. 7, 1979 from a Coal City, West Virginia paper called The Messenger with a story of two sisters, Granny Betty and Aunt Tekie. At the time Granny Betty was celebrating her 104th birthday and Aunt Tekie would celebrate her 102nd birthday on March 12. Send an email to me at [email protected] and when I scan the article in, I will send you a copy. The last paragraph of the article states: "Apparently longevity is inherited in the maternal line. The sister' mother, Mrs. Susan Martin, lived to be 99 years old, and their grandmother Allen lived to be 105." ~Wehali Usdi~<Look not at the Eyes but at the Soul>

They didn't physically "move" anywhere very far..(see also 1748 Bedford militia lists). Here's the list from the URL above. The Coles went to Richmond/Anson Co. NC then on to Robetson Co. I don `t know Marla. You figure there is an Edward on the 1750 and 1752 tithables, had to be 16 or over to be taxed. Everyone has his date of birth as abt 1738-1740, but what do they really have for proof? I know he was having kids by 1760 with Elizabeth Stewart, unless he had a prior wife that died. He died abt 1812 right? I noticed another early settler on Chestnut Creek was John Ramsey, plus there was the Hodges family there. By 1753 Edward would be on the Halifax poll lists. I´ll check the Voters of Burgess for Halifax Co as see if he was there. Teresa "m.moore1 " <[email protected]> wrote: Well, Teresa, that mixes things up a bit, doesn't it?
