    1. [VAFRANKL] Thomas Pemberton Will (Casey Co., Ky. )
    2. fran125
    3. Does anyone have a copy or know of a will of Thomas Pemberton, Casey Co., KY? His son Henry married Lydia Cochran, daughter of Edward Cochran of Franklin Co. and they settled in Casey Co., KY. I'm trying to save myself a day's trip to Casey County to look for the will and that is the last piece of paper I need for my mother's DAR application through Edward's daughter, Lydia, a new line for DAR. 1. [VAFRANKL] Rocky Mt Confederate Monument
    2. >From the Franklin Co VA Historical Society newsletter, June 07: The monument has stood since 1910. It was erected by the Jubal Early Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy, which was formed in 1902 for the purpose of putting up a suitable monument. When the county could not come up with funding, the women of the chapter began a fundraising campaign. A writing by Miss Essie Smith estimates the cost at around $1800 (1905 dollars) . She said the county had pledged $600 of that amount. The county expects to replace the monument as soon as possible.

    3. They are waiting to hear from the insurance company to see who is going to pay for the replacement. I don't think there is any doubt it will be replaced, probably just a matter of time. It was originally provided by the Daughters of the Confederacy and when they couldn't raise all the money Mr. Reuben H. Fishubrn donated the rest. Hopefully, they won't change it and replace it at the same spot. The courthouse just doesn't look right without it.
