The will of Mary Woodson c.1710 for Fluvanna County submitted to GenWeb has something wrong. In 1710 there was no Fluvanna County. Fluvanna wasn't formed until 1777, then from Albemarle Co. Hannah The name came from my Grandmother. She was Beulah Carrington Frazier of Campbell County , VA. Her father was Thomas Frazier but I have never found enough on him or her mother to be able to find out what connection the family may have with the Carrington Name. Hi Rosanne, May be you would like to volunteer to copy the data and put them in the archives for everyone to see. That would be wonderful. All you need to do is order the micro film from your library or LDS family center. Michèle When answering, please leave original message along with all replies to jog my memory. Hi, I recently received a copy of the marriage bond and consent for SAMUEL JOHNSON to wed ELIZABETH SHEPHERD the daughter of JOHN SHEPHERD. The consent was witnessed by JAMES T. SHEPHERD. The marriage date was December 19, 1831. Elizabeth and Samuel are then found in the 1840 Botetourt census, 1850 Rockbridge census and 1860 Botetourt census. The family then moved to Missouri and settled in Pike, Montgomery and Warren Counties. Any information on the Johnson or Shepherd families would certainly be appreciated. Thanks. Donna Price
Lee, Wilmington is east of Palmyra, VA. Palmyra is the county seat of Fluvanna County and found on Route 15. In Palmyra, one takes Route 601 to Wilmington. The area is east of Palmyra. When Route 601 intersects with Rt. 608, you are at Wilmington. Lyles Baptist Church & graveyard is there. The large brick home has an old store and an older building (the purpose of which I am not sure). Diagonally across is a large white home that was a tavern at one time. I believe several revolutionary notables were there one night and were warned in time to escape the British. I am not sure of the facts of the story, but I have told you what I remember from a research story by a former student. I hope this helps, Wandra
Lee, Wilmington is located just east of Palmyra. At the intersection of Route 15 and 610? at the stopsign just below the courthouse, go east and you will arrive in Wilmington. There is a wonderful brick 1700's home there as well as several others. There is also a church and graveyard where much of my mother's family is buried. It is basically just an intersection where you will see a sign directing you to Kents Store. I don't know where Gale Hill is, but I hope someone on the list will know. Hi List mates I will be glad to check this Cunningham marker and save Leigh a trip...I am pretty close to Cunningham, but I sure don't remember a marker. Tell me where it is and I will check... Alice in Lake Monticello
I have some ancestors who were born and raised (1850-1915) in Wilmington, Fluvanna Co., Va. Could someone tell me where this is as I can't locate the area on a Va. map? Also many of my family members are buried at "Gale Hill" - where is this located? Thank you for help - Lee Kirtley
