John Richarson whose last will was signed Nov. 1, 1810 left everything to his wife Sally. Abraham Venable Jr. , William Hughes Jr. and James Currin were appointed by John as executors. Sarah Richardson, widow of John Richardson left all of her real estate and personal property to William S. Venable, William L. Clarke and Rebecca Collinsworth in her will which was presented and proved Nov. 28, 1831. I am trying to find the maiden name of Sarah Richardson and trying to find if there was a relationship between these people. Pat Venable
I hope you have all been enjoying the Holidays and that each of you will have a wonderful new year. I've been absent from my duties with the Archives pages for a while and I just wanted to let you all know that I have not forgotten about them. I worked on them as hard as I could the first part of November, knowing that might be the last chance I'd get in a while, and it turned out to be true. So now my plan is to do my best to see to it that I get things caught up as soon as possible. During my trip back home over the Thanksgiving Holidays, I was able to visit some graveyards, and so have some new files to upload of my own as well. That's always exciting! My apologies to you all for the delay; as always your patience is highly appreciated. Thanks so much! Jeannie PS. For those of you who've written to me regarding my books, give me a bit more time to get back to you on those. Thank you so much for your interest and just as soon as I can get these archives straigtened out, I will be happy to answer all of your questions to the best of my ability. Anyone in the group know anything about John Kidd supposed to be father of Absalom Kidd who married Lettie Owens? I show a possible wife of John as a Jennings. Also interested in Mary Susan Turner who married Captain Thomas Osborne. I have Raynold Henley who married Cornelius Turner as father and mother to my William Henley, SR who married Mary Ann Osborne. Would appreciate hearing from anyone with information on these lines. Regards, Dick(Richard Reudien Bugg)

Hi all, About twelve years ago I was visiting in the Fluvanna and Buckingham Counties. I spent one night staying in a motel in Fork Union. Before dark I was driving around the town and saw lights on at an insurance agency. I went in and spoke to the person who was the agent. I don't remember his name but I do remember he was related to the Seay Family. Somehow I think he is a member of the Fluvanna County Historical Society. Someone in the area probably knows who I am speaking about. Dick(Richard Reudien Bugg) richardmary@earthlink.net Austin, TX
Hi Peg, While you are looking in Fluvanna County, watch for my Benjamin and Fanny GAMES CLARKSON. They lived there and some of their family is buried in a pasture near White Hall. I was there, with the hay crop. However, I was never able to find any record of Fanny death 1847 or Benjamin's in 1849. Their children show up in Lewis County in 1850 census. One of the daughters marries V. Fidler, another family from Fluvanna County. Hi Deborah. I cannot help you with your Robertson family, but I can give you some information about Seay's Chapel. My father grew up at Shores and I spent several summers there when I was a kid and went to Seay's Chapel with my Grandparents and Aunt Erea. I have a great number of family members buried in the church cemetery. I still try to attend the homecoming at the church every year. The church was named for Andrew Jackson Seay (1835-1911) who donated the land for the church. It is a small, one-room church with the cemetery right beside the building, but is still an active Methodist Church. (Preaching the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month.) Since my family has been in Fluvanna since the late 1700s I figure I'm kin to most of the Fluvanna families. Many of them stayed in the same place for generations and married their neighbors. I do not have Seay in my direct line, but have been attempting to put as many Fluvanna folks as I can find into my database. I started doing that when I got the Death records book. It has helped me track some of my own family. I have a total of 67 Seays (38 male, 29 female) in my database, but only one Robertson. David C. Robertson m. Mary Herndon, who was a sister of my gg-grandmother, Nancy Lewis Herndon. Most of my research is second source unfortunately (books, other gedcoms) but I have found some of these folks in the censuses and some of the county records. I have been to the Fluvanna court house a couple of times, but have had limited time on each visit. As to the relationship between the Fluvanna and Buckingham Seays, I haven't checked my records, but it's probable, since my Tutwiler line was in both counties. I'll be happy to share what info I have. Peg Janke pegj-ohio@worldnet.att.net
Does anyone have record of an Abner Seay? We know he lived in Buckingham county but do not know where he came from to there. It would be between the time period of the mid 1700's to 1817. Anyone who may have connections, there is some info that can be shared. Also, there is a Featherstone or Featherston Seay that we cannot place. Any information would greatly be appreicated. Thank you, Deborah Robertson Peak and Rose Seay
I need some information about Seay's Chapel. I believe it is located in Shores, Va. in Fluvanna County. My great grandparents are buried there and I am interested in knowing if they were members of the church. Their names are Andrew Ivy Robertson and Martha Denton Robertson. My great grandfather's mother Ann Robertson was a Seay. She was from Buckingham county. Does anyone know if there is a connection between the Fluvanna Seays and the Buckingham Seays? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you , Deborah Robertson Peak

Hey, any MANLEY researchers out there that had some move to Ohio... Licking Co or Fairfield? Monica
Alice! Welcome Home!!! Missed you. Hope you had an interesting and relaxing trip. The Poor Pettit's must feel abandoned. They've been on my mind, but I haven't had time to work on them. I guess I need you back in Virginia to push me, Dear Alice. Just got AOL halfway fixed late last week. Things aren't quite up to par yet, I'm afraid. Finally got connected up with a retired, left-handed grandpa in the Florida facility who managed to thaw me out and get my "stuff" back into my computer for me. The other 20-odd people I'd been in contact with via e-mail and phone had changed so many settings, added, removed, etc., that it took us several hours over the phone to get things set in the right direction. He suspects I need a modem driver upgrade might be in order, but can't seem to get the manufacturer on the phone--no answer to e-mail SOS's either. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family. Hugs, Carroll
Michele and Steve, I too am interested in this family ( ShadrachBishop and Caroline Manley ). They had a daughter, Isetta Agnes married a Pace. I am looking for info on their children and grandchildren. Do you have any information on them? Was Isetta the only child of Shadrach and Caroline? Hi Steve, I gone through some of the records I have here at home. Checked; Death Notices in Richmond Virginia Newspapers Va. Genealogist vol. 1-20 Fluv. Virginia Publisk Claims Found nothing. I have the Fluvanna Index to deeds, 1777-1905 if you would like me to check there. It's at the FHC so it would be until next week that I can view it. Any one?? (1) MARRIAGE BOND - Caroline married in 1849 to Shadrach Bishop, the marriage records her as an Orphan over 16 without a guardian. (2) WIDOW'S PENSION - Caroline pensioned in 1902 stating she was born in Fluvanna in 1830 and lived in Albemarle Co. since 1838. (3) WILLS - checked all the MAN(D)LEY wills in Fluvanna Co. - John & Micajah. The latter written in 1838 lists "children of my son Hezekiar", indicating that there was more than one and that son Hezekiah was dead by 1838. (4) FLUVANNA CO. SESSION - Oct.1834 - asks for an appraisal of Hezekiah Manley's estate, deceased. No other details :( (5) MARRIAGE - Sep. 1836 - Susan MANLEY, widow of Hezekiah, marries William CURRIER and seems to have left Fluvanna or died shortly after. (6) Hezekiah's brothers all seem to be living in 1838 and as later as 1849. Micajah MANLEY (father of Hezekiah) had brothers also, but they didn't remain in Fluvanna, nor did their families. (7) 1830 Census - lists Hezekiah with wife and ONE YOUNG SON - no daughters, but Caroline could have been born in 1830, AFTER the census. So...based on the above, Hezekiah is still my best candidate for Caroline's father. Susan (Bass) MANLEY, who married William CURRIER, would have been her mother. What happened to Susan after 1838 I don't know - that might hold the answer. Any suggestions most welcomed!! I haven't tried Church records - can you suggest any? Thanks.
