    3. Hello Sharon, I am a DAR Registrar. The ancestor to your question is : yes, the Oath of Allegiance in all the colonies is proof of a patriot ancestor. There are three areas of patriotism which are acceptable to DAR -- Military Duty - local militia or Continental Line Patriotic - Oath/Allegiance, furnishing goods to the military Civic - (serving as a local, state, or continental official including signing declarations in support of independence. These are just a few of examples which qualify. You will need to prove birth, death, and marriage for each generation, including your own. It is critical that you prove the link between the generations, that a woman or a man is the child of so-and-so. If I can be of any help, let me know.
