Phoebe: Two of my three children were born at New Altamont (1958 & 1959). I always told them they were born in a Nissan dealership and that Dr. Grubb was the salesman. I was one of the first occupants in the middle school across the street. As soon as it was finished, we moved the entire school from the old building up on the hill and across town to the new digs. We walked it - with NO police escort.
