    3. I want to thank everyone for their quick responses. RE: Duncans---I did find the 1890 census and the listing for Crocket Duncan. In the marriage info at the courthouse, it list a J.C. Duncan as father. The C. could be Crocket. It list mother as Ellie Hawley, perhaps the E. in Mary E.is "Ellie". Does not seem to link them with Joshua who was remembered to be her brother. But maybe that will clear up later. RE: Altamons Hospital---I was told the correct spelling but related the name with the Alta Mons from Shawville and confused the spelling. Was there and Old Altamons Hospital on Radford St? I was told it was located where Corrinne's Craft Shop is in the 100 block of Radford St. I was told it was called the "Ol" Altamons Hospital. Is the one pictured still around? And where was it located? From the map on the internet it looks like it was about where Kroger is now. Winnie

    3. Winnie, On my birth certificate it is "New Altamont Hospital" and I don't recall ever hearing "old." According to some research it was a nursing school/hospital from 1922 - 1927. It is located on Radford Street, and the business there now is Corrines, so you are right. The building housed a car dealer for a long time and has been remodeled several times, although it still retains some of the original look. It is not where Krogers is, but across from the Christiansburg Middle School. The official address is 100 Radford Street, NW. It is on Radford, between College and Depot if you are looking at a map. Hope this helps. 3. Corrine's is in the building that was occupied by the New Altamonte Hospital, founded and build, I believe, by Dr. A. N. Showalter, a native of Snowville, as were several prominent people of their day. These people include but are not limited to Rod Lucas, Bentley Hite, and earlier, Chester Bullard.
