My Mother - in - law passed away in 1998 and she never used precise measuring for the corn bread. She did try to write a recipe for me but it never turned out like hers. I remember she always got the skillet hot and she used bacon grease or other oils and she would pour the mixture of flour and cornmeal and this would be cooking before she put it in the oven.
