Many years ago I was a young widow at the age of 30 and with 3 small children and you would think that there would be a majority of helpful caring people knocking at my door, right? But I moved into a new community and it was the opposite, and almost had me screaming and running for the hills! There was a line of greedy, crooked men and women lined up at my door. As I was going through this ordeal with repair men, construction crews, car salesmen, etc., I was praying to God that I would not lose my faith in the goodness of man. I didn't want to turn into a cynic! like my father! or a man basher like some of my divorced friends! Please God, what should I do? This was his answer: I was blessed with a chance meeting of a young man, like your new minister friend, Kat, and once I recognized that he was honest and kind and fair and knew others of his kind......I asked if I could call on him when ever I needed help, and then he felt blessed also. He knew people, who knew people, and I soon learned not to stray from my precious little book of 'new friends', and they all soon knew that I was a darn good seamstress and knew alot about herbs and babycare and homeopathy; so then I was giving to the community also, and it was wonderful. I'm gonna head right back up to VA next weekend and take my hubby and kids this time. My men folk will take care of me and, at this point, that is just fine.
