    3. I believe Lewis-Gale hospital was in Roanoke before moving to Salem. Also there was a Jefferson Hospital. I am waiting for this to pass and then I will leave the house to go to the Highland Games. I NEED my annual dose of Scotland come rain or shine. What's a little rain to a Scot? However my 110 lb. Golden Retriever is a quivering mass of fur down in the depths of my basement. She will have to hold the fort while I go enjoy myself and I don't think she's up to it. We've had this daily dose of thunder showers for weeks now. The hospital was the Carilion Memorial, I think. When I finished that paper, I put all the references away. So I can't check their names. These two nurses were working with diabetics, just as I did before I retired. I'm the standard genealogist who asks everyone she meets and hears their surname, "are you related to so and so?" Or the other standard phrase is, "do you have kin in VA?" Some look at me funny and others are happy to talk about their family. If my friends are with me, they just roll their eyes and groan. 3. When my oldest daughter was still in the womb, we were seeing the doctor at the lewis Gale hospital in Roanoke. She was born at the Salem Lewis Gale. This was in 1971-72. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rick Wimmer" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, June 14, 2009 6:56 AM Subject: Re: [VAFLOYD] Another Floyd descendant >I believe Lewis-Gale hospital was in Roanoke before moving to Salem. 3. You're right, Betty. Lewis-Gale, Jefferson, Shenandoah, Roanoke Memorial, Gill Memorial... all were Roanoke Hospitals. Roanoke Memorial and Gill Memorial survived in town and Roanoke Community was built in Roanoke, and Lewis-Gale built a new facility in Salem. Pardon my anachronistic error. Carolyn
