Actually, I WAS on a long trip AND sleeping...in the sand at Myrtle Beach for a week! Too busy getting tanned and swimming in the pool to chat...LOL! Now, we are no longer the only family in Virginia who's never been to Myrtle Beach. I understand why everybody loves it so much. We had a blast!!! Another descendant of Floyd CoVA, though actually born in Norfolk, VA, my grandson Conall Alec BRUCE was born 28 May 2009 and weighed in at 9 lbs., 9 oz. That's one reason I've been so quiet, lately. I hope everyone's reasons are as wonderful as this. 8~) Carolyn HALE BRUCE
Congratulations Carolyn, I see you got the weigh correct. We have three grandson and when our first granddaughter was born 5 1/2 years ago, I was holding her shortly after birth and she reached up and touched my mustache...she just stole my heart. I got so excited I sent e-mail to all our friends informing them of her birth and weighting in at 21 lbs. When the replies started coming in saying the worlds record, biggest ever, Wow, I feel sorry for the mother, etc, I realized my mistake, she was 7 lbs and something and 21 inches long. Her name is Johanna and she was with us at the lunch in Floyd few weeks ago. She was in some of the photos. Her mom dad rode their Harley and she rode with us. Mistakes happen, especially when excited. Carolyn, how wonderful! Is this your first? Which hospital? My first grandson was born at DePaul in 1976 and was in the Cape Henry Bicentennial Parade with his parents dressed as George and Martha Washington. Enjoy him. Hi Genevieve and Carolyn, My second son was born at Norfolk General in 1959. The first was born in Martinsville in 1957. Congratulations to all for your beautiful children, grand and great-grand children. I have 5 grandchildren and 2 Great grandchildren. The youngest was born 3 years ago at noon on the 4th of July. Can't get more patriotic than that. Enjoy them, life is too short. Conall was also born in DePaul, and he is wonderful! As for being my first, he is my first fully blood-related grandson, but my first grandchild to be born was my granddaughter Kacie. However, I also have three grands who are by my stepson, Randy, a girl named Morgan Frances, and two boys named Riley Alexander and Randolph Edward. We are blessed. Now, my three "step-grands may actually be related to me as distant cousins, as the Y-dna test to which my brother submitted swabs shows that my husband's HALE line (his great-grandmother was Martha B. HALE) and my HALE line are fairly closely related! I have neither determined the next generation up the line for my John HALE nor for his Edward HALE, but they may be brothers or cousins. Genealogy is nothing if not a never-ending mystery, with unexpected twists and turns! Thanks for the good wishes... Carolyn
