    3. Was trying to clean out my computer in hopes of making it run faster and came across the peom. I thught it approrate as Rena is doing cemeteries. Dear Ancestor Your tombstone stands among the rest Neglected and alone The name and date are chiselled out On polished marble stone It reaches out to all who care It is too late to mourn You did not know that I exist You died and I was born Yet each of us are cells of you In flesh and blood and bone Our blood contracts and beats a pulse Entirely not our own Dear Ancestor..the place you filled One hundred years ago Spreads out among the ones you left Who would have loved you so I wonder if you lived and loved I wonder if you knew That someday I would find this spot And come to visit you. 3. This is so true. Years ago, when my brother died in an accident in 1969, he was buried in Arlington Cemetery. I remember thinking, at the time, as a child, that one day I would come back to that same spot and add my Dad to the headstone, which I did in 2005. Years and years from now, my own kids will go back to the same place and show their children the names of the uncle and grandfather. Maybe it is strange on my part, but I have a special affection for cemeteries. When I go to Dayton, OH, I love to go out to Woodland Cemetery and visit the big family plot there, just up from the Wright Brothers, where my ancestors for a number of generations are buried. I don't feel morose at all, but rather very complete and very at peace. I know that life goes on and will do so even when I am gone because a spark of each of us lives on in our kin. Maybe that is why I love genealogy so much. Maybe I am hoping someone will remember me, too, and wonder what I was like!!
