I am trying to gather information about the Sumpter Family of Floyd County. Edmund Sumpter, Jr. was the father of Ruth Sumpter that married Joseph C. Bishop. Ruth Sumpter Bishop died giving birth to my grandfather, Harvey B. Bishop and that was in 1867. Sometime ago, I read something on the internet about the Sumpter Family and I believe it was written by a Curtis Sumpter. Unfortunately, it looks like that site was taken off the internet. I believe Mr. Sumpter may have written a book, but have not been able to find this out either. Would any of you Floyd County natives know of such a book exists?
