The events in the Philippines indisputably represents the ultimate dedication and sacrifice that is the hallmark of the American spirit. Although the Iwo Jima flag raising has been herald and memorialized in monument and film. This hard fought victory and flag raising has been to date virtually unnoticed. The Local Government in the region has requested the Beser foundation to identify the participants of this battle and the identity of the flag raisers so they can erect a proper monument on the site. If anyone knows of any WWII vets that may have participated in the battle or may know the identy of the flag raisers please contact me at mjs15@verizon.net Jack Spangler Ellicott City, MD
