    2. William, Simpsons was named for the community's first postmaster. William Simpson became the first postmaster in April 1823. The last postmaster at Simpsons, Clyne Angle, had a record of all the postmasters. He maintained the Simpsons post office in a back corner of his general store until the post office officially was closed in August 1979.
