Hello Dale, I did a search for just a generic "John Cobb" when I transcribed this as I too did not recognize the surname of Cobb. Found several in Patrick Co., VA so I would think there is a good possibilty this may have been where John came from. But also found Cobb's in Bedford & Pittsylvania Co., so who knows.
