Today I visited a cemetery on Haycock Road and one of the graves was J I W Worley, the best I could read. There were no dates, and I've not found him in a census. The top part with "Worley" was broken and lying on the ground and the engraving was poorly done. Just wondering if anybody knows who this is? The other grave - also broken - was Walter Holt 11 Jan 1840 - 27 Apr 1889, if those dates might help. There were other graves, but no stones left. Thank you for any help. Genevieve
if poorly spelled could this name be Wodsll ? ________________________________ From: G Starkey <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, May 15, 2009 6:22:28 PM Subject: [VAFLOYD] Worley Today I visited a cemetery on Haycock Road and one of the graves was J I W Worley, the best I could read. I suppose it could be, tho' I've not heard that name around here. Whorley is the preferred way of spelling this name, but I tried various spellings and no luck. Maybe it doesn't really matter, but there were no dates at all, nor any other engravings on the stone and I just thought I'd like a hint as to who and when. Thank you.
