My step-dad and I were headed up toward Bethel in his old '38 Chevy and we heard the news on the radio that Joe Howell had killed his family. We turned around and drove the 3 or so miles to their house. When we got there there were police cars every where and bloody mattresses in the yard. Still hard to comprehend. Joe hadn't been back from the war that long, people said he was "Shell-shocked" and he was sure he was about to loose his job, so he took that way out. I had been in their house before and Joe was a really nice person. The Guy Mills thing is a little different - Loma Fay was messing around and Guy found out about it, so he killed her, and then shot himself. I was born and raised about a mile from the Wurzburgers.
