Kemp, 100, of Dugspur, Va., passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Ascention Hospice House in South Carolina. Mrs. Kemp was born in Floyd County to the late Giles and Nancy Nester Harris. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman D. Kemp; sister, Effie H. Williams; and brothers, Clarence Harris and Quentin Harris. She is survived by her children, Jane Kemp Webb and husband, Frank Webb, of South Carolina, and H.D. Kemp and wife, Renate Kemp, of Roanoke; sisters, Euna Cassell and husband, J.L. Cassell and Beulah Johnson, all of Roanoke; sisters-in-law, Glenna Branscome, of Hillsville, Deane Harris, of Berryville, Va., and Izella Kemp, of Florida; grandchildren, Dean Kemp, Marcia Webb Camp, Melanie Webb Schroeder, and Lisa Kemp Carter; and greatgrandchildren, Reece Kemp, Tyler Kemp, Grace Carter, Jackson Carter, and Joshua Camp. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Buffalo Mountain Presbyterian Church, where she was the oldest charter member, with Pastor Bob Tolar officiating. Mrs. Kemp will lie-in-state at the church one hour before services begin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 21, 2010, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Vaughan-GuynnMcGrady Chapel.
