I visited the Jamboree with my Aunt Mildred Richardson and her husband, Oakley Richardson, of Riner, both deceased, on April 20, 1990. I recorded the event with my VHS camcorder. It was a somber evening as there was a memorial service for Lissie (sp.) Cockram, the store owner's mother. When I saw the You Tube that Jack Spangler provided of the current Jamboree, I decided to convert my VHS tape to digital form so I could publish it on You Tube. This is the result: http://bit.ly/Jamboree. The event has gone 'big time', now, so you may enjoy seeing what it was like 20 years ago. Jerry Lester
Jerry... "Lissie" COCKRAM (Melissa Jane SMITH m. Pearl Nason COCKRAM) was my grandfather's half-sister, both having been children of Byrd SMITH. I really appreciate your posting the video of the memorial service, and I'm forwarding it to another of Byrd's great-grandchildren. Carolyn HALE BRUCE Virginia Beach, VA
Thank you Jerry, I enjoyed watching the video.
