Paul, I have the following on Mathew Williams. He died at Lumpkin Hospital, Rome, GA and death record was signed by R. N Taylor , Surg in charge; also, H. Z. Millen(r) Surg chg Hospital. (The initials may be wrong, hard to read) He died age 34. 11 Nov 1863 Mathew enlisted 10 Sept 1861 in Jacksonville by Capt. Dickerson. He served in Company A, 54 Inf. VA. He was 5'10" tall; fair complexion; blue eyes; light hair. Mathew's last pay by Capt Charlton 31 June 1863 and had pay due $145.20 but was indebted to Confederate States $41.00 ( both sums had something to do with clothing) Signed by D. M. Sowers, Capt.
