Several people expressed an interest in having our next lunch in Floyd Co. for October. As I don't know much about the resturants in Floyd, so I need your help. Could someone suggest a place that could accomodate all of us that has good food and not expensive? Linda would Tuesday work for you? Appreciate your help. Betty
There are only a few places in Floyd that I can think of large enough to accommodate more than 5 or 6 at one table and that have good quality food: 1. Ray's Restaurant on Rt. 221 (I don't know the days they are open for lunch during the week but they sometimes have a lunch buffet which is good and they do have a room divider that they could pull and set us up in the back--similar to the Rocky Mount setting). You can also order from the menu and the prices are reasonable. 2. El Charro Mexican Restaurant is large enough but they get pretty busy at lunch time during the week and only have tables they could scoot together in the main dining area or we could sit together in several booths at the backside of the restaurant--no dividers). Prices are reasonable. 3. Pine Tavern would be a great place because they now have a separate enclosed dining room that probably would seat about 40-50 people but they are only open for dinner on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (no lunch)-they are only open for lunch on Sundays. The family-style food there is similar to the Homeplace in Catawba and about the same price or you can order from the menu. I don't know whether they charge extra for use of that enclosed room or not and their prices are a little more than the two restaurants above. If you would like me to check out the details for either of these, I would be happy to. Maybe some of the other folks from Floyd can provide some feedback as well. I typically work Tue.-Thurs. and would not be able to attend those days when I am working. Just keep me posted on when the meetings are and I will attend whenever I can.
