A week or so ago Old Paul was talking about Confederate Soldiers from Floyd County, which brought to mind my great grandfather, Joseph Cullen Bishop. In my research of my Bishop family, if it hadn't been for mention that he was a Confederate Veteran in his obit, I would never have known this. I have never found him on any lists of soldiers for Floyd. So I went searching and found his pension papers at the Library of Virginia. In brief, he joined Sept. 1864 and was assigned to the 45th Va. Infantry (no records of this can be found), but he was transferred to the 17th Va. Infantry, which I have found. Rena was kind enough to put on the Floyd County website my research of the John Bishop Family of Floyd County and also the Civil War Service Records of Joseph Cullen Bishop. I was just wondering why he was never mentioned as having served on any lists that I have been able to find? And, also was the Wyatt Dulaney that Old Paul referred to, the one that married Martha Bishop? Thanks, Carol
