They resided In that community for many years, moving with their family to McDowell county in 1907. Mrs. Strickler died In July of 1930. Mrs. Strickler was a member of the Primitive Baptist church for sixty years. She is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. J. W. Johnson of Iaeger, Mrs. John T. Parker of Iaeger, Mrs. J. F. Simpson of Superior, Mrs. Bob Mullins of Oak Hill, Mrs. Graham Christian of Sciotovllle, O., J. W. Strickler, prominent coal operator of Welch; Warfield Strickler of Home Creek, Va., E. F. Strickler of Page, Va., and V. T. Strickler of Squire. A brother, Bob Conner, resides in Roanoke, Va. The services today will be in charge of Rev. R. H. Ballard, Methodist pastor at Iaeger, with burial following In the Iaeger Memorial cemetery at Roderfield. Pallbearers will be grandsons of the deceased, including: J. W. Parker, J. C. Strickler, Herman Simpson, Elbert Christian, Strickler Mullins, Sam Mullins, Robert Mullins, James Johnson and J. T. Carter. Flower bearers will be granddaughters of Mrs. Strickler. The body was removed to the Strickler home in Welch Tuesday afternoon to lie in state until the hour of the services today. 7/30/1930 Charleston Daily Mail Charges Preferred After Death of Opponent in Fight. WELCH, July 30 Â H. J. Harman, 55 years old, president of the Sandy River district. McDowell county, board of education, was at liberty today under $5,000 bond to await action of the grand jury on charges growing out of the death July 23 of Samuel H. Strickler, 74 years old, of Iaeger. Harman waived a preliminary hearing following his arrest yesterday and furnished bond. It was charged that the Saturday before Strickler's death he and Harman engaged in an altercation at Iaeger which resulted in blows. The following day, relatives of Strickler alleged, he suffered a stroke of appoplexy and died a few days later.
