Vicki, Birth Certficates did not exist until about June of 1912. there may be an entry in the birth book 1853-1896 which is at the courthouse in Floyd, Va. If i remember correctly someone has transcribed that and it should be on line at ancestry.com . I'm working on a big project..and can't search right now, as You did not give his name, but with that information maybe we can help you locate the line entry.
