    1. [VAFLOYD] 52 Weeks To Better Genealogy - Challenge #23
    2. Rena Worthen
    3. Week 23: Come up with a personal genealogy challenge of your own. Each person has different research goals and experiences. Use this week to come up with your own challenge, and then take the steps to accomplish it. Genealogy bloggers are encouraged to share their ideas and challenge their own readers. 52 Weeks To Better Genealogy is a series of weekly prompts that are a bit more challenging and are geared towards those new to the field of genealogy and family history as well as those who want to brush up on some skills which might be a bit rusty. We'll list a new challenge each Saturday which should be completed by the following Friday. And remember these should be fun exercises! Don't feel that you have to participate each week, nor should you beat yourself up if you miss one or more challenges. We all have so much that we want to accomplish - let alone what we want to accomplish with our genealogy blogs. This series should be one which, by the end of 2010, helps you to be a better genealogist. Thanks to Amy Coffin of We Tree (http://wetree.blogspot.com/) for the inspiration!

I have some info on Emera Altizer, who's granddaughter married Moses Akers. Will have to look to see if I have a Jay. There is a link to the Altizer Family. Just key in ALTIZER FAMILY. 3. Since we seem to be on the subject of food, I'd like to ask if anyone knows where to find the following. Back when I was young, some 80 years ago, Both sets of my grandparents lived in the Floyd and Montgomery county area. Both of my grandmothers had very large gardens. They grew what I would call "ORIGINAL" type corn. This was before they had introduced mechanical corn pickers. At that time the corn would have multiple ears up to 6 or 8 ears per stalk. After commercial corn pickers were intorduced the corn was modified to have only 2 ears per stalk at the correct height for the picker to harvest. Up until the 1950's I could find this type of corn from some seed companies. If anyone knows where to find a seed source I would like to hear from you. You can see the advantage of increasing the yeild of even a small garden. =\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\= Charlie says: GENEALOGY is the study of life in the Past Lane =\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=\=

    3. Jack, I live in northern CA, I have been to Santa Maria but that is far away from me. Solvang is not the same as it was years ago, fast food restaurants and dinky import shops now. The last time I was there, I was very disappointed. Changing times.
