Mrs. Cole was 96 years old, and the mother of 12 children, seven of whom are living, the oldest being 79 years of age. At the age of 86, she was a victim of a runaway accident, sustaining a broken arm and being dragged a distance of 100 feet. Her vitality was such, however, she recovered from the effects of these injuries. She was able to read without glasses, and her step was more alert than those of her own children.

    3. Could the name be Levi Boyd, not Eli. Levi, married Lovinia Dickerson in Floyd in 1831 and the family was in Floyd in 1840. In 1850 Carroll County Census, Lovinia  and the children are listed. John Perry Alderman stated Levi died 1847. They did have a son William, b. 1847. In 1850 there are 11 children. Nearest neighbor is J. davis Marshall who is buried in the Marshal/Brim Cemetery that I had a question about last night. There is a Boyd child buried there also. Some records show his mother as Mary Harris some list her as Mary Ann F. Harris. I can't really continue with my search unless I can find out who his father was and verify who his mother was. All relatives on that side of the family have passed so I have no one to go to. I got a copy of his death cert from but it lists his father as "Mr. Harris" and his mother as "Miss Harris". 3. Vicki, Birth Certficates did not exist until about June of 1912. there may be an entry in the birth book 1853-1896 which is at the courthouse in Floyd, Va. If i remember correctly someone has transcribed that and it should be on line at ancestry.com . I'm working on a big project..and can't search right now, as You did not give his name, but with that information maybe we can help you locate the line entry. 3. Hi, I am looking for a birth certificate for my great grandfather who was born in Floyd County. I sent to Richmond but the certificate came back "Unable to Locate". He was born 4/7/1873. Where could I go to get a copy of the BC? Thank you for any help that you may be able to provide. Vicki (Harris) Burton
