    3. Does anyone have any thing on a Jessie F Rutrough son of Jacob W. Rutrough and Cahterine E. Black.? I can not find Catherine in the 1930 census and the only Jesse I can find is listed as the son of Elmer Rutrough. Jesse is listed as 16 and in the 1920 census Jessie F was listed as 6. Can anyone clear this up for me. John Sowers researching Sowers, Booth, Rutrough, and other related families -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter. 3. Hi Ken, Phillip Saunders is my gggg grandfather also. My line is thru dau. Mary. Did I send you some Williams info sometime back?. If I did, did I send you info on all the Williams children? (My husband was quite ill for several years and we moved to Texas in 2004) so I am not sure of anything I did or didn't do. Phillip Saunders seems to be rather elusive - that was all I had on him. Author: CambAngst Surnames: Thomas, Cannaday, Wright Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.floyd/2012.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I don't have much info on the Charles R. Thomas you're asking about, but he was a brother to my great-great-great grandmother, Adeline Thomas Sweeney. He was the son of Charles Thomas (born circa 1811 in Patrick Co, VA, died btwn. 1870 & 1880 in Floyd Co, VA) and Mary Polly Cannaday Thomas (born circa 1814 in Franklin Co, VA, died before Nov 1853 in Floyd Co, VA), who were married on 31 Jan 1828 in Franklin Co, VA. Charles Thomas 1811 was the son of Pleasant Thomas (1770 to 1848) and a different Mary Polly Cannaday (1781 - 1861). Mary Polly Cannaday was the daughter of William P Cannaday (1781 - 1874) and Martha Wright (1783 - 1858). Having multiple people with the same name throughout the family line makes this one a royal pain to research. Charles Thomas 1814 appears in the 1840 Census in Patrick County and the 1850 Census in District 15, Floyd County. His mother's death date is based on his father's remarriage to Judith Thomas on 23 Nov 1853. Judith was Charles's first cousin, also part of the Patrick County Thomas clan. Her father, also named Charles Thomas, was a brother to Pleasant Thomas. Charles and Judith appear together in the 1860 Census for Floyd County. Charles appears without Judith in the 1870 Census in the Little River district of Floyd County along with his two youngest children by Judith, Jude "Tug" Thomas and Sarah A Thomas. Judith appears in the 1880 Census in Jacksonville (aka the town of Floyd) with Tug and Sarah. She is listed as "widowed", pinning Charles's death date between 1870 and 1880. She does not appear in the 1890 Floyd County census remnant, pinning her death date between 1880 and 1890. I hope this helps. Like I said, this family line is very hard to research because they intermarried frequently and tended to recycle certain names (Charles, Mary) often. PLEASE put in First & Last names, dates and places for your oldest relative. Who, Where and WHEN are three ingredients for a successfull query. Rena Worthen List adm.

Robert would have been a brother to Benjamin. This could be a clue as to where Nathaniel and wife might be buried. "E-mail from Judy Blackwell, Oct 23, 2009: A hunter told us about a cemetery up this side of Hale Road on Stonewall Road up in the woods. It would be on the left going up towards Hale Rd. He didn't know if he could find it again, but he did today, so Clyde went up and recorded what they could of it. Genevieve and I will go later and get the GPS numbers and look for other graves. It is a Basham cemetery and has the graves of Robert and Elizabeth Clower Basham and her mother Margaret Clower and her sister Nancy Ann who married Harrison Gibson late in life. There are some children of Robert and Elizabeth and maybe others. Robert and Elizabeth married 17 April 1845 in Floyd County. I believe he is the son of Nathan Basham and Ellen Ross who married 23 January 1811 in Bedford County, VA." Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
