    3. I remember my mother making Cracklins' in the oven and then making the Cornbread but I was not fond of it. She and Daddy loved it. They also loved cornbread and buttermilk and so does my husband. He like the rest of you, remembers the good old days when it was real buttermilk and not store bought.     3. Mom and I need some of that anointing oil. We are both sick. she was at the hospital on Tuesday and I haven't been able to work since Monday. My furnace quit working on Christmas day and is not repairable. Maybe MISS KAT could semd me a repair man or two to work here some.. ;>) Rena

    3. I borrowed my son's laptop computer to bring with me up here so I wouldn't have 200 emails to deal with when I got home...lol Actually, this thing is so handy. Most hotels now have free wi-fi internet. I have been on the road so much lately, I didn't have any time to Christmas shop. While I was in Chicago in November, I just sat at this little old computer and did my shopping right from my hotel room. What did we do before computers?? If you remember in the Bible where Mary anointed Jesus' feet with spikenard oil..I have always wondered what that oil smelled like as scripture says the room was filled with the sweet smelling odor... I ordered some of it (it is expensive) and it came today..the scent is unlike any other scent I know of..it is sweet, spicy, and earthy as well...golden colored liquid..     3. John: Seems to be quite a stir over good old southern food. I like turnip or mustard greens, but never developed a taste for spinach. I just went out and scraped the snow away and found a big batch of mustard greens for supper - NOT. All our snow is gone, but we did open up a can of mustard greens to go with our "Yankee" pork chops. Yes, I do like buttermilk. I like buttermilk and cornbread. About once a month my wife makes up a bunch of hoe cakes to go with our buttermilk and pintos. There's no way to get good buttermilk in Ohio - just the artificial city stuff. The farmers are not allowed to sell unpasteurized milk to the public. My mother used to make butter and buttermilk and her version of "cottage cheese" - it was made kind of in a loaf and thick enough to slice off. I loved it all. That's not bad for a person who will not drink "sweet milk" at all. Enough of this. I have to get ready for church.
