    3. My mother in law says I am an oldfashioned cook and I admit to being one. I try to make a pot of pintos a least once a month (I am the only one that really eats them). But cornbread, along with onions for the pintos, will satisfy me. My grandmother made wonderful biscuits every morning in that old wood stove. Nothing better but I still can's duplicate them. I think it may have been the lard that was the secret. My one cousin comes close though. I put a big spoonful of pintos on my biscuit one day and the MIL said she had seen it all and then I put my fried apples on the next one. Apples, a hot biscuit with butter, heaven!! Who needs dessert then. A cookbook would be great. Somebody start typing.!! Cheryl Cora Sue Linton <5l20country@comcast.net> wrote: One meal my family loves is Pinto Beans, Fried Potatoes and Cornbread. Of course the beans have to be cooked with "fat meat" or a "ham bone" and the Cornbread has to have a bit of bacon grease added to it. WOW what a flavor??? I prepare this meal at least twice a month. There has to be onions and real butter on the table. I have a really hard time trying to stop cooking like my Mother did, but it is just to hard to change. 3. I have a 1st cousin 3 times removed named John E. Easter born about 1870. Don't know if this same one as yours but he was the son of Edmond (or Edward) W. Easter (b. 1838) and Betty E. ?? (b. 1841). Edmond's parents were Wiley V. Easter (b. 1802 - d. 9 Sep 1862) and Margret Mullins (b. 1801 - d. 30 May 1883). Wiley and Edmond were in the 1850 and 1860 census for Franklin Co. Edmond's sister America Ann (b. 29 Dec 1828 - d. 10 Jun 1884) was my 2nd Great grandmother and she was married to David Hale (b. 7 Dec 1822 - d. 21 Apr 1912). ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rena Worthen" <doreatr@rbnet.com> To: <vafloyd@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2008 12:57 AM Subject: [VAFLOYD] EASTER & Kitterman > 1900 United States Federal Census 1900 United States Federal Census > Name: John E Easter > Home in 1900: Roanoke Ward 1, Roanoke City, Virginia > Age: 30 > Estimated Birth Year: abt 1870 > Birthplace: Virginia > Relationship to head-of-house: Head > Spouse's Name: Berta B > Race: White > Occupation: View Image > Neighbors: View others on page > Household Members: Name Age > John E Easter 30 > Berta B Easter 27 > Carrie B Easter 7 > Fred K Easter 6 > John J Stigler 14 > > > > > > Source Citation: Year: 1900; Census Place: Roanoke Ward 1, Roanoke > City, Virginia; Roll: T623 1739; Page: 14A; Enumeration District: 91. > > > ********************************** > Note from List Administrator!!! > The Second Sunday in each month will set aside for a "Brick Wall" Roll > Call.
