Judy Blackwell has requested we give credit to Kathy Calvert for these records. She is a genealogy teacher and both Judy and Everett Hall are taking classes with her. Kathy was the one that realized Judy and others would probably be interested in them. Judy says there will probably be other records forthcoming. Mary
Janice Smyth sent me a copy of the postcard to share with everyone. This is the postcard written to (Nannie) Pearly Epperly. The writing is in pencil which is very light. http://www.rootsweb.com/~vafloyd/pearlepperly.gif

The entire document is re-typed and now on line. Mary Williams & Judy Blackwell, if you see a type-o from the origional please let me know. If I had additional info on these records (I added them) in brackets. http://www.rootsweb.com/~vafloyd/recordsofmarionthomashall1212008.htm This is a real TREASURE to have in our possession. Please take a look. On some of these, this is the only record avaliable, as they were born and died between Census, and the ones 1911 & part of 1912 there are NO death Certificates for them. There are over 500 individuals here and I am most greatful for the information myself and I hope you all will find it useful as well. Rena List Adm

Please be sure to change the Subject line. and if there happens to be Genealogy included in a message, please don't use the NOT Genealogy Subject line. I'm getting complaints. I get all the mail for ten list, plus about 200-300 spam letters a day, so how one can complain about 100 e-mails is beyond me, but let's mix a little Floyd County Genealogy in with our SWVA Memories about Christiansburg & Radford, for which I have been most interested in. For those of you new to the VAFloyd list, most of us are either related, or related by marriage to each other, so this is a unique list. We not only deal with names and dates, but habitat, and a lot of friendship as well. The members had Barb's permission and if things work, far be it from me to ask for change. Anyone with Genealogy questions Just jump right in with them, and we'll help if we can. This is a busy list, so I suggest that you might like to be on digest rather than individual e-mail list, if you don't want to receive a lot of e-mails. I have finished typing the pages of Marion Thhomas Hall's Funeral records. I will add a column for Relationship notes if you all have coments about any of these people. I will get the new document loaded after dinner. I also have several thousand marriage documents for Floyd County. 1853 - 1909 (NOT all Indexed) I will help with marriage dates and parents if I can. BE fair to others, Ask for spacific first & last names and give me a year at least. You can look at Barb_R's site for those details. Have a good day and keep up the good work. Rena List adm

Kat, There was a duck pin bowling on Third Avenue, which is in the east end of town. I remember it. It closed and Bibee's grocery went in there. I have a Clover Creamery bottle also. I had a cousin, Don Landrum, who worked there during the early '50s and my brother-in-law, Earl Bishop, worked there in the late '40s. I believe Ole Paul told me one time that he knew Earl. Wayne, That is the June I know. One son is in Iraq and was home during the holidays. She told me this morning that he was back over there now. She talks about another son in the service and that is probably the one going to retire. She has one living in Pulaski, Larry. I think a daughter lives in Pulaski also. June is a sweet little lady and she does walk alot. I am researching my husband's Hawley line. Do you connect to Lucritia Ann Hawley that married James H. Simpkins? They had a daughter Melinda Florence that married Andy Likens. Don't have any information on other children. On our way out of Hillsville yesterday (where it was 13 degrees at the time...) we decided to take the "long" way out route 58 through Galax, Independence, and over the mountain. At the top of Mount Rogers, it was SEVEN degrees!! My Florida children had never seen a single digit thermometer reading (in the car, of course...we weren't brave enough to step out!) The New River, over between Galax and Independence, had ALOT of ice in it. In the years I lived up there, I had never seen that before. It was SO pretty!
