    1. [VAFLOYD] William Minor Quesenbury
    2. Sharon Hobart
    3. Hi all, I was reading an article in the Overland Journal from the Oregon Trails Association and they highlighted the story about William Minor Quesenbury (aka Bill Cush). I believe there are alot of Quesenbury researchers on this list so I wanted to throw his name out there just in case anyone has him in their tree. The article says he was born in Arkansas but it doesn't list any of his parentage and he went west in late 1840's/early 1850's and recorded his trips and had drawings. He began working for John Wesley Jones to bring visual representation of the West to eastern audiences. He spent the summer of 1851 traveling the California trail from west to east and making sketches that later would be used in the creation of a gigantic "panorama". His sketches are an important record of the California Trail during its heyday. If this rings a bell with anyone, I'll be happy to provide the article. Sharon Hobart Saginaw, TX

    3. A friend bought me this book, "The Man Who Moved a Mountain", as a gift. I enjoyed it so much, I read it twice. I loaned it to several friends. Now, I don't know what happened to it. I'm sure you would all enjoy reading it. It can probably be borrowed at any of the libraries in the New River area. Is there a link to the brochure? 3. There are two bids so far. It is really sad whoever is auctioning these items with no interest at all in the history of them, has set such a high reserve price. It is very possible family members would love to have them and deserve to have them returned, but priced out of range. 3. I looked at the photos posted with this sale on Ebay and realized that one thing I was seeing was evidently the back of a photograph with the names listed. Here are the names I was able to read: Homer Leftwich, Emma Leftwich Quesinberry, Walter Leftwich, Marcus Leftwich, Rebecca leftwich, Marshall Leftwich, Wesley A Leftwich, Claude Leftwich, Howard Leftwich, Bayne Leftwich, Addie Leftwich, Jean Leftwich, James Leftwich, Helen Quesinberry, Hazel Quesinberry, Claudia Quesinberry. In another photo, there is a close up of two pages of a photo album and you can make out the names: Albert Lyon, Mary Ellie (or Ellen) Bolen Don't know if anyone recognizes these names in their genealogy, but thought I'd share what I could read, any way. Just hate to see this treasure trove end up in the hands of people who don't know the family. 3. I totally agree that it would be so nice if this ended up in a museum somewhere. Hopefully, whomever ends up with the lot will not hide the info away, but will share it with other family members! It looks like a real treasure trove. 1. [VAFLOYD] Hillsville Family Names in e-Bay Photo Album...Bolen, Leftwich, Morris, Quesenberry, Slate, Mitchell, Leatherwood, Cook, Coltrane & Snider
    2. I asked the e-Bay seller what family names were represented in the photo album for sale...The answer follows: "There are many Bolens and Leftwich's and Morris'; there are also one or more of the following: Quesinberry, Slate, Mitchell, Leatherwood, Cook, Coltrane, and Snider. There is, in addition, a very long letter dated 1916 that outlines the generations following the union of Pocahontas; concluding who exactly of all Bolen descendants is descended from Pocahontas, and declaring that the correct (original) spelling of the name is Bolling." http://cgi.ebay.com/Pocahontas-Rolfe-Leftwich-Bolen-Hillsville-VA-Records_W0QQitemZ170191706824QQihZ007QQcategoryZ20926QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Here is the link if you are interested in viewing... I have nothing to do with the listing of this item on eBay (I would never sell personal items like this on eBay)? I also think they should be donated...
